We teach on a two-semester, four-term schedule. We accept a new intake at the beginning of each term, for all courses.

Term structure

Terms are nine weeks long, but the structure of your term depends on what you’re studying.

A typical term for design and arts students will look like this:

1 day induction + 5 teaching weeks + 1 production week + 3 teaching weeks

Induction day – settle into the new term

Your induction day is a day for you to collect your timetable and subject outlines, meet your lecturers and – if it’s your first term – get familiar with the layout of the college.

You need to attend each induction day to check in with the registrar and get important information about your classes for that term.

Teaching weeks – get knowledge, get skilled

Teaching weeks make up the bulk of your time at Raffles. You can expect an average of 16 - 20 contact hours each week – but all courses require you to put in extra time for group work, assessments and study.

Production week – focus on creating

In production week, you’ll work on improving the quality of your work. It’s the point in the term when you can stop, take stock of what you’ve learned, and channel your energy into producing.

In Term 4, ongoing preparation for the Graduate Exhibition takes the place of production week.
